Emmy Milton Akwam

Milton Emmy Akwam is a Ugandan practicing journalist who also holds an ATD in accounting. As an accountant, he turned his passion and zeal to journalism, beginning in 2012 with a local newspaper called Adwarping.

At the same time, he worked as a hotelier in Lira Municipality (now City). Akwam’s love for journalism and having a pro-community media establishment grew tremendously as a result of his passion for journalism, which was greatly inspired by his late father.

On September 12, 2012, he founded The Northern Daily “TND”, which would later become known as tndNews. The publication, however, had to wait until April 2018 to begin regular operations.

From February 2015 to early April 2018, Akwam worked as a Reporter (Bureau Head) for The Pepper Publication Limited’s brands, including Red Pepper, hello!, and Dwon Luo newspapers. He was the latter’s inaugural Managing Editor for eight months.

He has worked for tndNews and its parent company, GLCSMS, since April 24.

Akwam believes that journalism and the media in general have the power to change society and should provide a platform for the creation and dissemination of factual, fair, and balanced news or information. He later became known for mobilizing his like-minded friends to start the First Annual Media Conference in the Lango subregion in 2016.

Currently in its 4th Edition, the AMC 2024 is anticipated to draw at least 150 attendees when it takes place in October 2024.

He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication Technology at Multitech Business School (MBS) in Kampala, and he holds several certifications in (digital) media-related training.
