WordCamp Lira 2024 is now just a few weeks away. Several people are already asking accommodation options available when they come to Lira city to attend the first WordCamp in northern Uganda.
For starters, the venue for WordCamp Lira 2024 is within the heart of the Lira city, accessible to good accommodation (hotels, guesthouses, lodges) and other social services, such as restaurants, bus park, night clubs and street food.

There are two options available to attendees. Firstly, there is option of on-campus accommodation. This is reserved for teenagers and youth, who have tight budget, and would want to get a simple place to get some sleep the day before the WordCamp (Friday night, August 23, 2024), and on the day of the WordCamp (Saturday, August 24, 2024).
The second option is out-of-campus accommodation. This option allows one to choose their own accommodation, preferably in hotels, guesthouses or lodges.
On-Campus Accommodation
As noted earlier, this option is reserved for teenagers and youth, who have tight budget, and would want to get a simple place to get some sleep the day. The accommodation shall be in college dormitories, on double-decker beds, with hired mattress. However, if you choose this option, be sure to carry along your beddings (bedsheets, mosquito net). The organizers will keep your valuable items such laptops, smartphones, while school security team shall oversee the security of the attendees. This option would cost UGX 25,000 per night.
Off-Campus Accommodation
This option allows one to choose their own accommodation, preferably in hotels, guesthouses or lodges. There are many hotels in Lira city from which you can choose from. We recommend that you get accommodation near the venue for convenience and your security.
Hotels in Lira city is not very expensive, and have quite standard level of service & customer care. We anticipate that attendees can be able to arrive and get accommodation anytime, or book early in advance.

Margaritha Palace Hotel is a modern hotel located in Junior Quarters. This hotel has both luxury and premium offerings, from rooms, style, service, restaurant and much more. Lillian Towers Hotel
This is both a premium and luxury hotel located along Inomo road, it is just a few metres from the venue. It provides unmatched service and memorable experience to its clients and guests. The prices are high-end.

Hotel Good News
It is located right in the middle of the city, along the popular Oyite Ojok Lane, about 200 metres from the venue, Lira Town College. It is easily accessible, and provides a good opportunity to experience the night life in Lira city. It is near Ferroz, a popular hangout place in Lira city.
Twin Room costs UGX 160,000, Double Room with AC is UGX 150,000, Deluxe Room with AC is UGX 120,000, Deluxe Room (without AC) is 100,000 and lastly, standard room goes at UGX 90,000. All this comes with breakfast. The numbers to call are: 0783 100231, 0392 158002, 0754 646499.
This hotel is along Lira-Soroti Road, at a place called Uhuru bar. It started operation in late 2023, and is about 300 metres from the venue, a walkable distance. Single Standard rooms cost between UGX 50,000 and UGX 70,000. Single Deluxe go for UGX 90,000, Double Room is UGX 120,000 and Twin room is UGX 140,000. All this comes with breakfast.
They call themselves a Christian hotel, and is just adjacent to Lira Town College playground. Rooms range between UGX 100,000 to UGX 700,000 for Presidential Suite. The numbers are: 0775 329338, 0751 947003, 0772 159636.
Benvia Hotel
This hotel is also located at the famous Uhuru bar roundabout, along Lira-Juba Road. It is a small hideout, and rooms are priced at UGX 52,000 per night.
SilverPeak Hotel
This is just a stone throw away from the WordCamp venue. SilverPeak Hotel is just 100 metres from Lira Town College, after Post Office, along Obote Avenue, as you are heading to Soroti road. Pacific Grand Hotel
Located just outside he perimeter wall fence of Lira Town College, this place is popular for its expansive, exclusive compound and cool mango tree shades. Singe room is UGX 65,000, Double room is UGX 85,000 and Twin room goes for UGX 120,000. All comes with breakfast.
